Emperor est un groupe de black metal norvégien formé en 1991 par le guitariste et chanteur Ihsahn et le guitariste Samoth. Reconnu pour son style innovant qui allie mélodies sombres et atmosphères épiques, le groupe a marqué les esprits avec des albums emblématiques comme 'In the Nightside Eclipse'. Bien qu'Emperor ait connu une séparation en 2001, ils ont su se réinventer en se réunissant à plusieurs reprises, notamment entre 2005 et 2007, puis de nouveau en 2013 et 2014. Ce qui les rend uniques, c'est leur capacité à fusionner des éléments orchestraux avec des riffs puissants, créant ainsi une expérience musicale immersive. Leur influence sur le genre est indéniable, faisant d'eux des pionniers du black metal moderne.
